Designer Information

Frag Woodall is an Industrial Design graduate from The University of Technology Sydney. His design studio MR.FRÄG focuses on interiors and products such as furniture, lighting and home-wares.

The central ideas within his design philosophy are to allow the products to have functional honesty, material integrity and a sense of poetry, wit or humour that communicate and connect on a human level. These individual elements contribute to the design, however it is ‘storytelling’ that is the true artful activity that binds together all the elements. Imbued in every design is a sense of capturing a single idea or feeling and expressing that with legibility and clarity so the product can be engaged on a referential level. “It is these less tangible notions that I try to pursue and when they are present I feel that a design has more relatability and clarity”.

Woodall’s emphasis while running his studio is on a blended consideration of conceptual and commercial design. In this approach creative freedom and business values work together to develop an honest expression of design intent, materials and context.
